(Des Moines) – Students from all over Iowa came together to show their support for a bill to standardize Iowa’s beer keg registration rules. Decatur County brought a large contingent of students along with a leader in the statewide movement, Tim Carr of Lamoni.
“Tim has done an amazing job of promoting this legislation. He began lobbying for it when he was an eighth grader. He is now a senior in high school,” commented Senator Angelo. “Tim has won the support of many youth groups and law enforcement officials across the state with his dedication and passion on this issue.”
The news conference was held in the former Supreme Court chambers at the Capitol and the room was packed with young people across the state.
Keg registration laws simply "tag" a keg and allow its buyer to be traced. When an adult buys a keg for an underage drinking party, the tag will allow the buyer to be held accountable.
