Talking Veterans’ Issues at the Capitol
DES
MOINES – State Sen. Jeff Angelo (R-Creston) met with Jerry Hansen, the Director
of the Montgomery County Commission of Veterans Affairs, to discuss issues
important to Iowa veterans.
“It’s
important that as legislators we take the time to listen to our veterans and
work with them to develop good policy that will help today’s veterans as well
as our future veterans,” said Senator Angelo.
Among
the veterans' issue priorities this year: full funding for the Iowa Veterans
Home in Marshalltown and exempting all military income received by National
Guard, Reserve Forces, or U.S. Armed Forces from state income taxes while on
Federal Active Duty.
The
legislature has a committee exclusively devoted to veterans' issues.
