Students Visit Capitol City

DES MOINES – A group of 4^th and 5^th grade students from Harris-Lake Park Elementary School visited the state Capitol last week as part of a two-day field trip to Des Moines.

The students, along with school staff and chaperones, visited the Science Center of Iowa and spent the night at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Des Moines on Tuesday. 

On Wednesday, the group visited the Capitol, where they met with their legislators and took a tour.  They later traveled to the Iowa Hall of Pride and the West Bend Grotto of the Redemption before returning home.

While visiting the Capitol, state Reps. Royd Chambers of Sheldon and Mike May of Spirit Lake and Sen. David Johnson of Ocheyedan answered questions from the students.
