Senator Mulder Meets with Members of ABATE Iowa

DES MOINES – Members of ABATE Iowa met with Senator Dave Mulder (R–Sioux Center) today at the Iowa Capitol.

ABATE stands for A Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education.  ABATE is a not-for-profit, neutral organization that unites all riders in brotherhood.  This brotherhood works to safeguard the rights of riders while allowing for individuals with differing views.

Members of the Iowa Legislature have drafted two bills that are of interest to members of ABATE Iowa.  SF 2121 and HF 2207 are similar bills that, if passed, would enhance the penalties for Right of Way violations that result in serious injury or death of a person.  Second, the bills would create a Share the Road program to the driver education curriculum.

“It is important that we work to keep all Iowans Safe,” said Senator Mulder.  “Everyone that uses the road needs to be protected.”

Twenty-five Senators have co-sponsored SF 2121 while 41 members of the House have co-sponsored HF 2207.
