Senator Mulder Honors Remmerde at Capitol

DES MOINES – Today Senator Dave Mulder (R-Sioux Center) and all legislators honored Deb Remmerde of Rock Valley at the Iowa Capitol.

SR 144, which honors Remmerde, was adopted.

Remmerde has earned accolades in both high school and college athletics and academics.  She was named the Iowa Newspaper Association All State First Team her sophomore through senior years of high school and was Iowa’s Miss Basketball her senior year as well as the Class 1A State Basketball Tournament Most Valuable Player.

In college, she was named an All American for two straight years.  She is also a two-time All-Great Plains Athletic Conference performer.

“This young lady is one of the best basketball players ever,” said Mulder.  “She was named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Player of the Year for 2005 and 2006.”

Remmerde set a national competitive record for all divisions of basketball, male and female, amateur and professional, by making 133 consecutive free-throw shots.
