Wieck Named Co-Chair of Government Oversight Committee

DES MOINES – Senate Republican Leader Mary Lundby (R-Marion) today announced that Sen. Ron Wieck (R-Sioux City) will replace her as co-chair of the Government Oversight Committee. Sen. Pat Ward (R-West Des Moines) will replace Wieck as a member of the committee.

“I am honored to be appointed as co-chairman of the Government Oversight Committee,” said Wieck. “As co-chairman, I am committed to the ongoing investigation into CIETC. Iowans deserve answers about why $1.8 million in taxpayer dollars went for lavish salaries and bonuses instead of for job training services. I am determined to get Iowans the answers they deserve.”

Lundby stepped down as co-chair of the committee after she was elected leader of the Senate Republican Caucus.

Wieck, of Sioux City, was elected to the Senate in 2002. He also serves as co-chair of the Senate Business and Labor Relations Committee and is a member of the State Government and Ways and Means committees.
