Senator Wieck lambastes Senate Democrats on their anti-business agenda

(Des Moines) – Senator Ron Wieck (R-Sioux City) raised concerns on the floor of the Iowa Senate about the Senate Democrats’ efforts to chill Iowa’s business climate

Senator Wieck made his comments on the floor during a time in the daily schedule that allows for Senators to make points of personal privilege, essentially an opportunity to share with his colleagues his opinion about important policy issues.

“I think the Senate Democrats are sending the wrong message to Iowa’s small business owners,” said Wieck.  “With the funnel deadline behind us, Iowans can finally see what the Senate Democrats are truly trying to do with Iowa’s economic development policies.

“They’ve passed a “fair share” bill that takes away workers’ freedom to choose membership in a union; they’ve reconfigured multiple pieces of legislation covering employer and employee disputes, and they’re aggressively raising taxes and fees when they believe it is politically feasible,” stated Senator Wieck.

“One out of every two workers in this state is employed by a small business,” said Wieck.  “And with the Senate Democrats pro litigation and pro union agenda, we’re bound to destroy some of those jobs,” he added.
